Tea was and is a central part of Taiwanese culture. Taiwan produces more than 20,000 tons of tea annually. Historically, through this tea trade, the traditions, customs and rituals associated with tea consumption became a central part of Taiwanese culture. When you hear the word “teahouse,” you might imagine traditional Japanese and Chinese teahouses designed in Zen style, decorated with traditional art, and filled with the sounds of traditional music. There are tea houses of this type in Taiwan, but others are new, young and innovative. The tea house concept, as we define it in our company, is thoroughly modern.
